Graphic Design Inquiry Final Project - Using a Vinyl Cutter
In this final project, you will create a design to be used with a vinyl cutter. Think of this as a maker project - you can make a sticker, car decal, t-shirt, hat or your own idea for a maker project (just consult with Mr. Halstead prior to starting).
Ideas:
-a logo, a quote or line from a song, a band name, a funny saying, the outline of an animal or object or person, the name of a travel destination, or other ideas you may have.
Instructions:
Your graphic MUST be a one colour design
(two is possible but you will need to consult with Mr. Halstead first).
If you choose to do a t-shirt, download one of the mockups below and change the colour of the shirt if necessary to help create your mock-up.
Vinyl colours for heat press (t-shirt or hat or other clothing item):
White, black, gold, sky blue, lime green, bright red, orange, pink
Vinyl colours for sticker or decal:
White, black
Size of the artboard depends on what you decide to make.
Level of difficulty will be factored in the rubric.

4 Icon Minimal Movie Poster (or TV show or Novel) (20 marks)
Using Adobe Illustrator, create a minimal movie poster which represents a well-known movie, television show or novel using 4 icons to represent characters and or the plot of the film.
Your challenge is to see how simple you can make the graphic without losing its meaning and is often referred to as minimalism in graphic design.
The idea of reducing a well know movie, book or other complex narrative to a simplified graphic may seem easy on the surface, but it is essentially an exercise in graphic design combined with problem solving - finding the most important elements of the narrative and highlighting them. Here are a couple of examples.
